Riding through Taiga

Day 1. Ulaanbaatar

Arrival in Mongolia and transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day free at leisure.

Day 2. Tour around Ulaanbaatar

After breakfast begin guided city tour including Gandan Monastery- the heart of Mongolian Buddhism, Chinggis Khaan square, lunch, National museum of Mongolia, Zaisan hill and national folklore show followed by dinner. End of the tour transfer back to hotel. (BLD)

Day 3. Khuvsgul lake

Transfer to the airport for the flight to Khuvsgul lake. Upon pick up from the airport . Visit the local capital of Murun see the market and head to the north for 2 days drive.(Camping)

Day 4. Darkhad valle

Start driving towards Tsagaannuur soum. via Ulaanuul soum (soum is small community center) Drive through scenic Darkhad valley. Picnic lunch on the way. Camping on the bank of Shishged river. (6-7hrs drive)

Day 5. Taiga valleys

Drive to the drop off point meet the local guides and horses and pack up everything on packhorses. Riding through beautiful Taiga valleys with reindeer herding guides. Camping in the woods (3-4hrs ride)

Day 6. Reindeer summer camp

Riding towards to Reindeer summer camp. Arrive there in the afternoon. Staying in a Teepee or camping. (5-6hrs ride)

Day 7-8. Hospitality of the Reindeer herding families

Full day with the Reindeer people enjoy the warm hospitality of the Reindeer herding families. Making reindeer cheese can be seen today.

Day 9. Ride back

Ride back to the drop off point (camping)(5-6 hrs ride)

Day 10. Lake Khuvsgul

Come back to the drop off point may be drive towards the lake Khuvsgul (it depends on how early you arrive at the drop off point) (camping) 3-4hrs ride

Day 11. Khuvsgul lake

Long driving day towards the Khuvsgul lake. Arrive on the lake do some hiking before dinner.( ger camp) (7-8hrs drive)

Day 12. Kayaking

Full day on the lake. Kayaking, even more horse riding is available. In the afternoon use the sauna right on bank of the lake . (ger camp)

Day 13. Leisure day

Leisure day at the lake.

Day 14. Ulaanbaatar

Drive back to the airport after breakfast. Upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar transfer to hotel. Rest of the day free at leisure for individual plans. (B)

Day 14. Departure

After breakfast transfer to airport for the flight back home.(B)
