Horse trek in Western Mongolia

Day 1. Ulaanbaatar

Arrival in Mongolia and transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day free at leisure.

Day 2. Tour around Ulaanbaatar

After breakfast begin guided city tour including Gandan Monastery- the heart of Mongolian Buddhism, Chinggis Khaan square, lunch, National museum of Mongolia, Zaisan hill and national folklore show followed by dinner. End of the tour transfer back to hotel. (BLD)

Day 3. Ulgy town, Bagakhargai area, Turkish monuments

Transfer to the airport for the flight to Ulgy town. Upon landing at Ulgy town pick up from the airport and visit of local museum. After lunch Bagakhargai area. Half day horse riding for 10km to Turkish monuments. Overnight in tents. (BLD)

Day 4. Mount Tsengelkhairkhan

Begin horse trekking to Mount Tsengelkhairkhan via Khalzan pass which is 3948m above sea level. Today’s distance is 30km. Overnight in tents with nomadic family with domesticated eagles.

Day 5. Hultsoot petroglyphes

Head to Hultsoot petroglyphes. Today’s distance is 25km. Overnight in tents.

Day 6. Khar lake

Turn reins to Khar lake. Today’s distance is 30km. Overnight in tents on the shore of Khar lake.

Day 7. Chikhertei lake, Chikhertei lake

Head to Chikhertei lake. Distance is 40km. On the way cross Bardam river by horse. Night in tents near local family.

Day 8. Yolt Natural reserve area

Ride to Yolt Natural reserve area. Distance 25km. Cross over Yolt pass. Tented night (BLD)

Day 9. Yolt Natural reserve area.

Remain in Yolt Natural reserve area. Distance 20km. Tented night (BLD)

Day 10. Ui rocks

Ride to Ui rocks. Distance 30km. Cross the Ketsuu pass. Tented night (BLD)

Day 11. Durgen

Ride to Durgen via Khagiin steppe. Distance 30km. Fishing opportunity available. Tented night (BLD)

Day 12. South Hultsoot

Head to south Hultsoot. On the cross Sagsai river. Distance 25km. Tented night (BLD)

Day 13. Tolbo lake

Ride through Khukh ergiin steppe to Tolbo lake. Distance 30km. Evening camp fire and farewell dinner. Tented night near Tolbo lake. (BLD)

Day 14. Flight back to Ulaanbaatar city

Drive to Ulgy town and flight back to Ulaanbaatar city. Upon arrival transfer to hotel. (B)

Day 15. Departure.
